What to Consider When Getting a Split System Air Conditioner

As there are so many types of air conditioning systems available today, it is very difficult to choose one for you specific need.  There are many brands that manufacture split system air conditioners.  Some are made in Japan and Thailand, some are made in America, and some are even made in Europe.

The brand that manufactures a split system air conditioner is not important; its functions are the same anyway.  The engineering might be a bit different due to innovations and special features unique to the brand, but all systems have, in essence, the same mechanics and functions.  But there is a specific split system air conditioner for everyone.  This usually depends on the area to be cooled.

Sizing a Split System Air Conditioner

A split system air conditioner can be used by both commercial and residential establishments.  But depending on the size of the area to be cooled, one must pick the right system applicable for the task.  If you are planning to cool a very small area like a room that’s less than 40 square meters, you are better off with a window-type air conditioner.  But if you are cooling an area worth more than one unit, then you can go for a split system.  A system with a small to medium-sized condenser is good enough for a suburban home or an apartment dwelling.  For whole cooling of big areas like one who building, a large chilled water cooling tower is better.

Another thing to consider is the weather conditions of an area.  If you live in a very humid or hot area in the country like New Mexico or Arizona, you can opt for a system with a more horsepower.  You will need it as cooling demands are greater for areas like this.  Remember to assess everything first before getting your own split system air conditioner.
